THE REWARD OF ABRAHAM’S FAITH (What God Gives to Those Who Trust and Obey)

By Ukeme Ben

        INTRODUCTION

Abraham’s story is not only about sacrifice and obedience — it is also about divine reward. God is not unjust to overlook faith. Throughout Scripture, Abraham’s unwavering trust in God activated extraordinary blessings that still impact believers today.
Hebrews 11:6 — “He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Abraham believed… obeyed… waited… and God responded.
Faith moved Abraham.
Obedience pleased God.
Reward followed.

✨ REWARD #1: RIGHTEOUSNESS CREDITED BY GOD

(The Greatest Spiritual Reward)
Genesis 15:6 — “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”
Before circumcision, before the law, before rituals — Abraham believed God, and God declared him righteous.
🔑 What This Means
God gave Abraham:
Right standing with Him
Covenant acceptance
Spiritual approval
This is the highest reward of faith — being right with God.
📖 New Testament Confirmation
Romans 4:3 — Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
🎯 Application
True faith still produces this reward today:
Peace with God
Confidence in prayer
Freedom from condemnation

✨ REWARD #2: DIVINE FRIENDSHIP
(Abraham Became God’s Friend)

James 2:23 — “…and he was called the friend of God.”
This is one of the rarest titles in Scripture.
🔥 What It Means to Be God’s Friend
Abraham enjoyed:
intimacy with God
divine conversations
revealed secrets
covenant closeness
Genesis 18:17 — “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing?”
God trusted Abraham with insight.
📌 Deep Truth
Faith opens the door to divine intimacy.
Not everyone who believes God walks this closely — but those who consistently trust and obey do.

✨ REWARD #3: THE PROMISE OF A GREAT NATION
(Generational Impact)

Genesis 12:2 — “I will make you a great nation…”
Abraham started as:
childless
elderly
seemingly unproductive
But faith rewrote his story.
🔑 What God Did
God gave Abraham:
Isaac
descendants as the stars
the nation of Israel
global spiritual influence
Today, billions trace spiritual heritage back to Abraham.
🎯 Real-Life Insight
Faith does not only bless you — it blesses generations after you.

✨ REWARD #4: SUPERNATURAL PROVISION
(Jehovah Jireh Revealed)

At the moment Abraham lifted the knife over Isaac…
Genesis 22:13–14 — God provided a ram.
🔥 What This Reward Teaches
When Abraham obeyed fully, God revealed Himself as:
Jehovah Jireh — The Lord Will Provide
📌 Key Principle
Provision often appears after obedience is proven.
Abraham discovered:
God sees ahead
God prepares ahead
God provides on time

✨ REWARD #5: A CONFIRMED COVENANT
(God Swore by Himself)

After the Isaac test, something extraordinary happened.
Genesis 22:16 — “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord…”
God rarely swears oaths in Scripture — but Abraham’s obedience moved God to make an irrevocable covenant.
🔑 What the Covenant Included
God promised:
multiplied descendants
territorial blessing
victory over enemies
global blessing through his seed
This covenant still echoes through Scripture today.

✨ REWARD #6: A LEGACY OF FAITH

(Abraham Became the Model for All Believers)
Because of his faith, Abraham is called:
father of faith (Romans 4:16)
father of many nations (Genesis 17:5)
example of living faith (Hebrews 11)
🔥 Eternal Impact
Abraham’s faith is still:
preached
studied
followed
admired
📌 Deep Truth
True faith outlives the believer.

✨ REWARD #7: GOD’S CONTINUAL PRESENCE
Throughout Abraham’s life, God repeatedly said:
“I am your shield” (Genesis 15:1)
“I am with you” (Genesis 26:24 — spoken to his lineage)
Faith brought Abraham under divine covering.

🎯 What This Means Today
Those who walk in Abraham-type faith experience:
divine guidance
supernatural protection
spiritual assurance

 IMPORTANT SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE

Abraham did not earn God’s blessing by perfection.
He had moments of weakness:
the Egypt incident (Genesis 12)
the Hagar mistake (Genesis 16)
Yet his consistent return to trusting God kept him aligned with divine reward.
👉 This gives hope to every believer.

🔥 SIGNS YOU ARE WALKING IN ABRAHAM’S REWARD PATH

You will notice:
growing trust in God
quicker obedience
patience under delay
deeper intimacy with God
unusual favor over time

🙏 PRAYER — ACTIVATING THE REWARD OF FAITH

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WHAT TRUE FAITH LOOK LIKE

Ben Ukeme Key Scripture “But without faith it is impossible to please Him…” — Hebrews 11:6 “The just shall live by faith.” — Habakkuk 2:4 True faith is more than words. It is more than emotion. It is more than saying, “I believe.” True faith is visible. It shows up in how we live, how we respond, and how we obey God. Let us look at what true faith really looks like. 1. TRUE FAITH OBEYS GOD COMPLETELY “By faith Abraham obeyed…” — Hebrews 11:8 Faith is not passive. It moves. Abraham did not just believe God — he acted on what God said. True faith obeys: Even when it does not understand Even when it is uncomfortable Even when it is costly Faith is trust in action. 2. TRUE FAITH TRUSTS GOD’S CHARACTER True faith believes: God is faithful God keeps His promises God is good even when life is difficult Faith says, “Even if I don’t see it yet, I trust Him.” It is confidence in who God is, not just what He can give. 3. TRUE FAITH WALKS BY THE WORD, NOT BY SIGHT “For we walk by faith, not ...
