Police recovers 83 illegal firearms, arrests 3 suspected robbers




The Bauchi state police command has confirmed that it has recovered about 83 illegal firearms in the state.

In the same vain the command has arrested three notorious armed robbers in an attempt to attack their target in Maladunba forest Misau LGA of the state.


.The command spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar disclosed this to the reporter

Abubakar added that the recovery of the illegal firearms followed the Inspector-General’s directive that individuals and groups in possession of prohibited arms should surrender.

Abubakar stressed that all 36 commands including FCT were directed to constitute Joint Task Enforcement team, apparently to mop- up places believed to be criminal hideout for seizure.

The police spokesman hinted that about 702 live ammunitions were also recovered from the suspected persons including those that voluntarily surrendered their firearms

Among the illegal firearms recovered are 30 AK 47 riffles, 20 guns, 20 pistols, 4 pump action machine among others.


Consequently, Abubakar maintained that the arrested suspected robbers sustain fatal injuries in a gun duel with the police at Malubda forest in Misau LGA.

Items recovered from the suspects are 3 AK47 rifles, 210 live ammunition, one golf car including police uniforms.

The command therefore call on individuals and groups to surrender illegal firearms in their possessions as a panacea to combat crimes in the society.
