Genocide: U.S. lawmakers visit Nigeria on investigative mission

S. lawmakers, including Mario Díaz-Balart, Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani, and Riley Moore, over the weekend visited Nigeria on a fact-finding mission. Former PDP spokesperson, Ologbondiyan announces exit from party to The Ruling part

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has officially resigned from the party, ending a long period of involvement in its national leadership and political activities. Ologbondiyan confirmed his departure in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Okekoko Ward (Ward 09) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The letter, dated December 5, 2025, was also shared publicly on his X social media account on Saturday. The Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, has passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as well as support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and re-election in 2027. Also, the forum called on Nigerians to remain calm in the face of the insecurity challenge, as governments are taking holistic measures to tackle the challenge.   Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s “sweeping re-engineering of Nigeria’s security architecture.” While denying that the military shake-up was connected to a rumored coup plot, the Presidency said it was a move to “inject new direction” into the armed forces. The APC governors declare that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains a duty they will actively reinforce in their respective states. Tinubu nominates Ibas, Dambazau as ambassadors

President Bola Tinubu has nominated the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, as a non-career ambassador. The President also named Ita Enang, a former senator; Chioma Ohakim, former Imo State first lady; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former minister of interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, as non-career ambassadors. This is coming barely a week after Tinubu transmitted the names of Reno Omokri, former INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu and others to the Senate for consideration as ambassadors.
