Popular Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platinum has been arrested for publishing “indecent” photographs on social media. It was gathered that the 28-year-old singer was arrested after shirtless images of him in bed with a female companion circulated online. Tanzania’s Information Minister, Harrison Mwakyembe, who confirmed the arrest, said the Singer was arrested for “posting uncouth content and spreading indecency on social media.” Mwakyembe said, “I inform you that yesterday we were able to arrest the great musician Diamond Platnumz, he is being questioned by the police about the indecent photos he circulated. “Social media is not a garbage dump of sorts. Our country has a culture. “There are some stars who keep posting uncouth content on social media and I’m proud to say yesterday we arrested Diamond Platnumz.”

A 16th-century gold case containing the heart of the only woman to be crowned queen of France twice has been stolen, according to The Telegraph daily. The British newspaper said in an online report that the 15.24-cm oval reliquary containing the heart of Anne of Brittany was stolen by robbers, who broke in through a window of the Thomas-Dobree Museum in the western French city of Nantes over the weekend. The queen was buried at Saint Denis near Paris when she died in 1514, but her heart was stored in her family tomb in Nantes to show her loyalty to Brittany. The reliquary, topped by a gold crown with nine lilies, the royal motif, is considered a masterpiece. It had been on display at the museum for more than 130 years. The theft has created outrage among the public. Philippe Grosvalet, president of the Loire-Atlantique department which owns the museum, said thieves had “attacked our common heritage”, stealing an item “of inestimable value.”

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft successfully destroyed some Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) vehicles at a location, in the night of 13  April 2018 about 12km East of AREGE, in the Lake Chad Region. Earlier on, the ISR aircraft had discovered BHT activities, with some vehicles mounted with guns, moving within the location. Accordingly, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, detailed NAF Mi-35M Helicopter gunships to conduct Air Interdiction strikes to take out the targets. Overhead the location, the attack platform acquired, interdicted and neutralised the targets with rockets and cannons. The subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) revealed that at the end of the attack, a BHT gun truck, with its entire occupants, was completely destroyed and engulfed in fire. Another BHT vehicle was damaged and immobilised as a result of the attack while several BHTs were killed in the process.

A 24-year-old man, Christian Musendiku, who allegedly killed his 80-year-old grandmother, was on Monday arraigned in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope explained to the court that the accused committed the offence on April 2, 1 am, at No. 3, Erelu Street, Ato-Awori, Ijanikin, Lagos. He said that the accused hacked his grandmother, Maria Ogabi, to death with a cutlass. According to the prosecutor, the offence violated Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The accused, however, pleaded for mercy even as he refused to plead guilty. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Adegite, consequently ordered that the defendant be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons pending legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions. The case was then adjourned until May 16.
